Stress at work can create big problems! It can cause heart problems, asthma, digestive problems, depression and anxiety, Alzheimer's disease, and other health conditions we might even not know of yet!
Many of us often don't relate stress at work with our personal or health problems. In fact, if we learn to reduce stress and let the parasympathetic system do its job, it will have a tremendous effect on our health.
But how can we reduce stress at work? Try these 6 steps:
1. Balance between work and your life!
Sometimes this is not easy especially if the nature of your job is stressful. However, when you put your life first, try to manage your time, and do not mix work with leisure time, you will be able to do it! It's a decision.
2. Change your mindset
Sometimes people think in a negative way especially when they try to solve a problem: They exaggerate, complain or can't think of a compromise. Being aware of your negative way of thinking is the first step to changing this mindset. Training on a positive mindset every day will reduce stress related to this problem.
3. Take a break!
Studies show that the most successful people take a break when they need it. Relaxation makes you more productive and therefore more successful.
4. Sleep well
Sleeping well reduces stress and also makes you more productive. Your body doesn't function properly when you don't sleep well. Sleep is as important as good nutrition to nourish your body and your mind.
5. Meditation
Meditation is a part of all religions. I believe the reason for that is the tremendous benefit it adds to your amazing body system. Studies have proven that daily meditation actually changes brain function. The idea of meditation mainly depends on breathing regularly and concentrating on the movement of your body (or just your breath). Sounds familiar? ;)
6. Start a hobby that you love!
Hobbies are a way to reconnect with yourself. People who have hobbies are more balanced. They can enjoy their time without depending on another person. Try to practice a hobby at least once per week and see how your life will improve. A person who is in a state of continuous learning and self-improvement is a person who is really alive!
